Founder & Principal Consultant, MJ Consultancy
30+ Years in Finance, Procurement & Executive Advisory

Thirty years inside organizations like Maersk, Unilever, John Keells Holdings, and GAC Group taught me something most finance and procurement leaders eventually discover, capability is rarely the constraint. Clarity is. I watched talented executives stall not from a lack of skill, but from gaps in structure, governance, and strategic alignment that no one was naming out loud. That observation, repeated across two decades of senior roles, is the reason MJ Consultancy exists.

My path ran through some of the most demanding finance and procurement seats in the region. As Head of Procurement and Financial Controller at Unilever, I led a team of 12 across four legal entities, rebuilding control frameworks and driving a zero based budgeting culture across the organization. As Group Finance Controller at GAC Group, I reported directly to the Group CEO, managing a team of 45, and became the trusted voice behind board level financial strategy and risk decisions. Earlier, at Maersk Logistics, I served as Business Process Owner for the group’s SAP ERP rollout and ran financial governance with a dotted line into the regional finance head in India. Across these roles, one thread held: governance, precision, and discipline to turn financial complexity into decisions leadership could act on.

In January 2026, I made a deliberate choice not a forced one. After early retirement from full time corporate leadership, I chose to focus on my experience where it has the most impact, advisory, project based, and fractional leadership engagements for organizations that need senior level judgment without the overhead of a full time executive. It’s a decision built from strength, not circumstance, and it shapes how I work with every client today.

Alongside my consulting practice, I serve as a Visiting Lecturer, bringing real boardroom and balance sheet experience into the classroom  and I am currently completing ACC level of ICF coaching certification, deepening parallel practice in executive coaching and leadership development that complements the advisory work.

What I bring to the table

  • Governance driven financial and procurement leadership, built across blue chip and multinational environments not theory, but rooms I have run.
  • A Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) ACMA qualification, an MBA specializing in Finance, and a Master of Laws (LLM) in Business Law from Cardiff Metropolitan University UK a rare combination of financial, commercial, and legal fluency.
  • Cross border and remote engagement experience, having worked with regional and international stakeholders throughout my career.
  • A track record of measurable outcomes, stronger controls, optimized costs, sustained compliance, and decisions leadership could trust under pressure.

If your organization needs clarity, structure, or governance discipline that only comes from someone who has sat in the seat, not just advised from outside it, let’s talk.
